How to install a gas geyser auto ignition kit

Installing the Autopilot kit is a plumber’s job: turn the geyser off, fit the kit’s gas and ignition controllers as our step-by-step video shows, attach the unit to the geyser with magnets or brackets, then plug in the programmable socket and set your heating times. Nothing is changed on the gas main line, and it is quick when no extra work is needed.

  1. Confirm compatibility

Check your geyser has a gas thermostat with Off, Pilot and On and a standing pilot. If unsure, send us photos before ordering.

  2. Watch the video with your plumber

Show your plumber our step-by-step installation video before starting, and keep it for later.

  3. Turn the geyser off and close the gas

Turn the knob to Off, close the gas valve to the geyser and let the burner area cool.

  4. Plan the power

Make sure there is a 220V socket within reach, protected from rain and heat. The kit’s programmable socket plugs in here, with a Wi-Fi switch if you use one.

  5. Attach and connect the kit

Attach the unit to the geyser body with its magnets or the supplied brackets, away from the flue and direct heat, and fit the gas and ignition controllers exactly as the video shows. Do not cut or modify the gas main line.

  6. Restore gas and check

Open the gas valve. If any gas fitting was disturbed, brush soapy water on it: bubbles mean a leak, so close the gas and fix it before continuing.

  7. Switch on and test

Switch on the power and confirm the burner lights with the spark. Then test a restart by switching the socket off and on, and watch the burner light again.

  8. Set the schedule

Set the ON/OFF times on the programmable socket (up to 20) to heat before baths and within your area’s gas hours.

Stop and call a gas technician if

Any local plumber or geyser technician can fit the kit using our video instructions.

  • You smell gas at any point.
  • The thermostat does not control the water temperature.
  • Gas fittings are corroded, cracked or leaking.
  • The geyser is in a place you cannot reach safely, such as a high roof without a ladder point.
  • You find damaged or leaking gas pipes at the geyser.

After installation

  • Keep the burner cover closed and the flue clear.
  • Have the burner and flue checked before each winter.
  • If the burner does not light when gas is strong and the socket is on, contact us on WhatsApp; all parts are in stock.

Frequently asked questions

How long does installation take?

It is a short job for a plumber once the geyser is off and cool, especially with our video instructions.

Is any change needed to the gas line?

No. The kit works with the geyser’s own thermostat; the gas main line is not modified.
